Dying In Dungeon
A small top down dungeon crawler/roguelite where your character class is determined by how you died previously. Made for Weekly Game Jam 130: Dying is Awarded. Can you make it through 15 levels and defeat the boss?
Controls:
- WASD to move
- Left, right, and middle mouse to attack (Alternatively, Q, E, and R)
- E to interact
- Space to dodge
Be sure to meet your "death target" so you can upgrade your character on the next attempt!
Music and a good chunk of the sound effects are sourced -- you can check the note in the main game hub to view the sources! I also used the A* pathfinding project.
Feedback appreciated!

Looks really cool! I'll record a YT on it soon, if that's ok, and I'll make sure to post it here!
Very well made game :D i would love to see you update this game more. The idea is very creative! great job
(Proceeds to give you a thumbs-up)
Great job! Looks like you really spent some time on this. :)
Splendid! However i'd definitely change the hp bar to Diablo like liquid ball or at least simple hp bar (with some pixel blood dripping animation mwahahahahah)
I had my gamepad plugged in and said "Why not???"... found out the only input that's missing from it is the attack button. Really cool app BTW.
Sweet entry in the jam. It was fun playing and conquering the dungeon. :)
Thanks for recording gameplay :)
Very polished with a super interesting take on the theme. I love that there's multiple weapons too but I wish they weren't randomized, I usually just tried to die asap if I got bomb or sword.
Thanks for trying it out :)
Technically you can "pick" your class by dying a particular way -- if you wanted to play with the bow, you could choose to die to a skeleton and potentially lose your gems.
Probably should have just allowed the player to pick though instead of forcing it.
Very pretty!
sweeet graphics <3
Pretty decent bullet hell wish there were a bit more varied upgrades kinda just maxed bow and proceeded to murder everything it plays well though! my play through here: starts at 2:43
Thanks for recording gameplay!
There's definitely some balance issues at the moment, upgrades are probably a little too strong (though I'm glad to see you had at least a little difficulty in the levels right before the boss)
Thank you for making the game wish you all the best in the future with your game design!
nice game
Nicely done. All in HTML 5 too. I am a fan of top down adventure games
